What is a glycemic index (GI) and why is it important to know?

The glycemic index (GI) measures the effect of carbohydrates on blood sugar levels. The lower the GI is, the better it is for you and your health. Products with low GI can help manage sugar levels, making it a smarter choice for diabetics and the health conscious.

DID YOU KNOW?

It is not recommended for diabetics to take foods with a GI of 55 and above. Good thing, our Coco Natura products have a low GI of only 35, making it safe for diabetics to consume.

What are the benefits of using Coconut Sugar?

Coconut sugar comes with a low glycemic index (GI) of 35. Since there is minimal processing involved, our coconut sugar contains the numerous minerals, vitamins and amino acids naturally found in the coconut sap.

With consistent use and following a low GI diet, there is a lower risk for type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease.

What is the difference between coconut sugar and muscovado?

Coconut sugar is produced from coconut sap and is rich in minerals, vitamins and amino acids, while muscovado is made from sugar cane and does not offer any nutritional value. Additionally, coconut sugar typically has a lower glycemic index (GI) than muscovado.

How is coconut syrup different from agave syrup?

Coconut syrup comes from nutrient-rich coconut sap, while agave syrup is refined from the agave cactus plant. While both are natural products, the agave syrup has a higher fructose content when compared to the better choice, coconut syrup.

Why is virgin coconut oil a healthier choice than coconut oil?

Virgin coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconut meat, which then undergoes a centrifuge or a traditional fermentation process to separate the oil or it is dried and pressed to extract the oil. With less refinement, you get more of the coconut flavor and the nutrients that come with it.

Coconut oil, on the other hand, is refined, bleached and deodorized from the coconut meat, with solvents used to maximize the extraction.
